How Are Affinity Groups Organized

Q. How are Affinity Groups organized?

A. Affinity Groups are usually organized into six categories. Like any organizational system, how the Community Network determines Affinity Groups is partially arbitrary, and may take a little while to make sense to you. Other than the News and Information category, Affinity Groups are organized around the various facets of a Member's life. When you look at the list of Affinity Group categories on the Welcome page, there is a description of what topics pertain to each one; this should help you decide where you want to browse:

  • Breaking News : What's happening with in your city, state/province or part of the world. More about the Community Network. This is where "official" Affinity Groups are found. These mostly are used by administrators or relevant others to send out news to pertinent Members.

  • COMMUNITY NETWORK: Technical, factual, researched information about the Community Network.

  • Member to Member: Managing Your Group, leading meetings, etc. There are Affinity Groups for all aspects of the community, from meeting planning to working with others. There are Affinity Groups for talking about issues important to Members as well as organization-wide concerns. Anything that has to do with being a Member will be found here.

  • Volunteer to Volunteer: Supporting each other in volunteer work.

  • Person to Person: Supporting one another around general health issues, friendships, personal relationships, self improvement, etc. Our relationships, friends, and our own health are part of this Affinity Group Category. Intimate sharing and conversation about our deepest thoughts will be located here.

  • Fun: The lighter side of our work. This is pretty much where everything else goes! There are many Affinity Groups on various hobbies, interests and activities to choose from. You are encouraged to start Affinity Groups on whatever you would like to interact with other like-minded Members about -- you're sure to find kindred spirits somewhere on the Community Network!
