Sending Announcement Email Messages
Q: How can I email a special announcement to all Affinity Group members, even ones who have not yet joined the Community Network or are set to read on the Web only?
In some Affinity Groups, especially news or announcement Affinity Groups, not all Affinity Group members receive the email messages in their email inboxes. They may have chosen to read the Affinity Group email messages only within the Community Network environment. If there is a very important message that needs to be seen by everyone, you have two additional options:
"-announce" Email Messages To send an important message to all members of a Affinity Group, regardless of whether the person has an email subscribed or not, the moderator does this:
For a list called "list@YOURCOMMUNITY.ORG", send an email to:
"list-announce@YOURCOMMUNITY.ORG"
The email must come from an email address registered to a Community administrator or a
Affinity Group moderator. Emails to the -announce address for any Affinity Group that are sent from other email addresses are forwarded to the Affinity Group moderator.
Please use this feature responsibly, since it will go out to people who may not wish to get large numbers of email messages.
"-all" Email Messages To send an announcement to everyone on a list, including those who have not yet signed into the Community Network, the moderator does this:
For a list called "list@YOURCOMMUNITY.ORG", send an email to:
"list-all@YOURCOMMUNITY.ORG"
Usually this option only makes sense on the "Everyone" Affinity Group.
