Q. How do I go about deleting a Affinity Group?
A. There are many reasons why you might want to delete a Affinity Group. Perhaps you started one a few months ago and no one joined up, or the participants decided they didn't want to participate any longer. Perhaps you set up a Affinity Group for a particular project or workgroup that had a limited lifetime--the project is over and the members are ready to move on to other things. You can certainly delete a Affinity Group if it is no longer being used.
Before deleting a Affinity Group, you may wish to save any Wikis you have created, in case you need the information. You can also download any documents in its Library that you want to save for future use. SOME documents will not be deleted, including those that are linked to other Affinity Groups or the Shared Library (see Library). Those will be retained for use by others.
If there are email messages that you want to save (these ARE deleted when the Affinity Group goes away), you can copy the text to the important messages (Ctrl-C on a PC, Apple-C on a Macintosh) and paste it into a text file on your computer, then save that file.
To delete a Affinity Group, go to its home page (most easily found from My Affinity Groups in your personal links collection at the top of every Community Network page) and then click on Edit this Affinity Group from the Quick Links on the left or any of the other places the option is scattered around the Affinity Group home page. The last option that appears on the page you will see next is Permanently Delete Affinity Group. Click that and you will see a screen asking you to confirm your wish. Clicking the Permanently Delete Affinity Group button on THIS page truly deletes it as well as the Wikis, emails and most associated items in the Affinity Group's Library. Deleted Affinity Groups cannot be recovered.
